In the past five years, largely thanks to policy leadership in Ontario, Canadian utilities have shut down 4,600 MW worth of coal power plants. That’s the equivalent of taking 8.7 million vehicles off the nation’s roads.

You see, I was telling you.....
Jains never asked for any ban..... OBSERVER @gdjasuja

Mumbai, Sep 13 (ANI): Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray said on Sunday that Jain Community never demanded 'meat ban'. He said that he met the Jain Community members who said they never asked for such a ban on meat. He also said all of them stand united as all are Indians. He also said that Jain rituals should be limited to their households and others shouldn't be compelled to follow as India's unity lies in its diversity. He also clarified the state shall observe the pre-ordained two-day meat ban.

Xi Jinping's 'carrot and stick' policy and the cost of making him angry

According to the International Edition of South China Morning Post (SCMP), President Xi Jinping is using the "carrot and stick" approach to warn all senior military officials to stay clean and loyal to the party. Yesterday, Xi rewarded 10 of his loyal senior military leaders by promoting them to full general.

On the other hand, once-powerful Chinese general Guo Boxiang was expelled from the Communist Party on corruption charges. Guo was vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission. He would be facing prosecution under the Chinese legal system whose outcome is pre-decided by the President. President Xi Jinping is also chairman of the Central Military Commission. An investigation into Guo's alleged corruption was launched by Xi's top officials in April this year.

The SCMP has also reported the story of the rise and fall of Guo Boxiang, the once-powerful general. The story describes the cost Guo had to pay for making his boss, Xi Jinping, angry.

AAP removes the posters and hoardings against PM Modi as a mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam

A PTI newsreport in the Hindustan Times titled "AAP govt removes posters, hoardings critical of PM Modi," says that the posters and hoardings  (advertisements) which were critical of Modi - suggesting the Prime Minister was creating hurdles in its functioning - have been removed as a mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam who died on July 27, 2015.

The posters had this message : "Prime Minister Sir, Please, let Delhi government work."

It is not clear whether the posters have been removed temporarily for the seven day state mourning period from 27 July 2015 to 2 August 2015. There is a feeling in the political circles that the Modi-Kejriwal tussle doesn't seem to cool down in near future and AAP government can again redesign it's posters to make their attack more specific, intense and effective.
Kejriwal and his senior party colleagues are happy and upbeat with today's news of Sanjiv Chaturvedi - AAP's first choice for the ACB chief, but rejected by Modi govt. - being selected for the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award for "enterprising leadership" and for exposing corruption. Sanjiv has openly declared his disappointment with the PMO and Modi's lack of initiatives against corruption.

The 2015 Ramon Magsaysay awards were announced today and the list included two Indians - Anshu Gupta and Sanjiv Chaturvedi. Specially, the award to Sanjiv, whom the Modi government shunted for his anti-corruption activities and honesty, is going to put PM Modi in the dock. If Modi's past record is of any indication, one can expect very nasty political attack on the Manila (Philippines) based Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation.
PM Modi is already facing numerous charges of shielding his Chief Ministers from the charges of corruption. So far, he has been somehow intense pressure and demand for their removal from the opposition parties to remove them. Today's development is surely going to add to the anxiety of PM Modi and his team. Bihar elections in the midst of public disappointment and glaring signs of government's pro-corruption attitude and actions are going to be the most difficult battle for the Modi-Shah led BJP.

We can expect a very hectic and quite challenging political week for Modi as he will be required to clarify his past actions and future ones, too. The new developments have made his silence quite unaffordable for him and his party.
